Custom software development for Minnesota small businesses.
parablok builds custom web apps, business tools, automations and integrations for small businesses across Minnesota. You get a flat-fee quote the same day you call, most projects are live in 2-5 days, and you work directly with the person building it. We're based in White Bear Lake, in the Twin Cities metro.
Tell us what you needWhat custom software looks like for a small business
Usually not a giant system. It's the one piece that no off-the-shelf product gets right for how you work, built so your team actually wants to use it.
Web apps and client portals
A login for your customers to see their orders, documents or status, or a web app that replaces a manual process end to end.
Spreadsheets turned into tools
The quoting sheet, the pricing model, the job tracker. Same logic, but with a real interface, multiple users and no broken formulas.
When to move off a spreadsheet →Automations
A form is submitted, a lead is captured, an invoice goes out, a follow-up is sent. Set up once, runs in the background.
More on automation →Integrations
Connecting the tools you already pay for (your accounting, payments, email and CRM) so data stops being retyped between them.
AI features
Document extraction, summarization, drafting, smart search and voice transcription, added where they actually save time.
Internal tools and dashboards
Admin screens, data-entry forms and reports that fit how your team works, instead of a generic product that almost does.
How a project works
Flat fee, agreed before we start. No retainers, no hourly billing, no surprise scope creep.
- Step 1
A twenty-minute call
Phone, video or in person. You describe the problem; bring whatever you have.
- Step 2
A same-day scope
What we'll build, the flat fee, and the date it will be live. No three-week proposal cycle.
- Step 3
The build
Our developers work alongside modern AI coding tools. You see progress every day.
- Step 4
Launch and support
Live on your domain, hosted and monitored, and we stay on after launch.

Common questions
How much does custom software cost for a small business?
It depends on what's being built, so we don't publish a price list. What we do is quote a flat fee the same day as the first call, before any work starts. You know the number up front, and it doesn't grow with the hours.
How long does it take to build?
Most projects are live in 2-5 days. We use modern AI coding tools to compress the slow parts of building software, so what used to be a four-week agency engagement is usually two or three days of focused work. Larger projects get a firm ship date in the scope.
Should I build custom software or buy an off-the-shelf product?
Buy when a standard product fits how you work and the subscription is reasonable. Build when you're bending your process around a tool, paying for several tools that don't talk to each other, or running the business out of a spreadsheet that only one person understands. A short call usually makes the answer obvious.
Do you work with businesses outside the Twin Cities?
Yes. We're based in White Bear Lake and work with businesses across Minnesota. Most of the work happens by phone or video, and we can meet in person if it helps.
What happens after launch?
It goes live on your own domain, hosted and monitored. We stay on to fix, adjust and add the things you didn't think of yet, so you're not left with software nobody maintains.
Do I need to know what to ask for?
No. Bring a sketch, a spreadsheet, a screen recording, or just a description of the part of your week that wastes the most time. Turning that into a scope is our job.
Tell us what's slowing your business down.
A few sentences is plenty. We'll get back to you the same day with a scope, a flat-fee quote, and a target ship date.
